what I do:
Being conscious about the environment has always been really important to me. I strive to follow the 'reduce - reuse - recycle' mantra. I shop at thrift stores and garage sales for furniture, clothing, and garden gear, etc. I look for products that are sold in eco-friendly packaging, and I will buy that product over the cheaper plastic-lined version. I'm not looking to save the world (I'm not even that good about recycling honestly), but I'm hoping to help consumers reduce the impact they have on this earth.

why eco-friendly?
Racheal's Eco Friendly Market is a web-based business, no actual store exists. My mission is to bring a light to companies that are working to help our planet through activism, and eco-conscious community alternatives. I offer merchandise that is chemical-free, organic, plastic-free (most items), and fair-trade certified as an eco-friendly solution. To follow my growth with this business and to learn about being eco-conscious, please follow my blog 'Off The Beaten Path' here.

I strive to live by sound business principles and hope you will be satisfied with the products and information you find on this site. I stand by my products with a 30-day money back guarantee, minus shipping. Merchandise must be returned unused for a refund.

what you can do:
We all know what humans are doing to the earth, and what problems will be present for our future generations. Here are some tips on what you can do to make a difference.

  • Start small.
Even the most incremental changes will start to set free your inner environmentalist. You will begin to feel like 'The Mother Teresa' for our planet.
  • Think about it before you buy it!
Ask yourself these questions before spending money on useless items. Do you really really need the item your shopping for? Could you spend more money on a quality item that will last a life-time? How much energy will it consume? How many resources did it take to create, transfer, and package the item?
  • Buy everything you need in one stop.
Try to reduce your consumption of oil products; including plastic bags...they can take upto a thousand years to break down, plus the cloth bags hold more and are less likely to tear.
  • Above all, remeber these basic rules:
Wood and glass trumps plastic. Exercise your legs - don't drive short distances.Compost kitchen/bathroom waste, then have a great garden to munch on (food waste is the #1 least recycled material). Always try to give your "garbage" a second chance. Afterall, someone out there may take it off your hands for free.
